Welcome to Lobstertown USA! and The Blueberry Capital of the World!
This first class property, The Sea Duck Cottage, is located in Jonesport, Maine with extraordinary views of the ocean. It is approximately 40 feet from the water’s edge depending on the tides, with sweeping views of the Atlantic and surrounding uninhabited barrier islands.
Private access to the sandy (but rocky) beach allows guests to walk safely about a hundred yards in either direction (depending on sea conditions). The house is the last house on a dead end county road offering very private and absolutely stunning views of the sea, as well as ducks, birds, seals, and more.
Jonesport is a very small and quiet lobster fishing village located in Washington Country, Maine, a town with a rich seafaring and fishing history, and friendly people. This is a place where the lobster is king, and blueberry pie is the queen.
There is easy access to kayaks, boat cruises, and walking tours showcasing the historic lobster fishing of Beal’s Island and the blueberry farming industry elsewhere in the region—there is even a Blueberry Museum! Also, you will not be too far from whale watching, art galleries, and historic old-fashioned diners in the towns of Machias, Eastport, and Lubec.
The Sea Duck Cottage is a luxurious waterfront home with the east side facing the ocean, showcasing gorgeous sun rises in the morning, and almost every room in the house has endless views of the ocean. The west side faces a professionally landscaped lawn with over a 1/2 acre of green grass, a garden, and manicured plants that flower and bloom throughout the spring, summer, and fall.
The master bedroom features a king-size bed)and en-suite bathroom on the south side of the house. A screened in porch is accessible from the master bedroom and the deck—however, most guests lounge on the open deck with the pristine views of the ocean.
The north side of the house has 2 guest bedrooms (queen size beds) and a guest bathroom in the hall (tub/shower combo).
The wide open kitchen design is white, bright, and roomy. The spacious kitchen flows straight into the living room and dining room with an island with bar seating, providing ample room for socializing, cocktails, and cooking all while enjoying the views of Maine’s coastline and ocean!
Although we never mix guest parties in order to ensure complete privacy for you and yours, there is a “bunkhouse” next door, as you will see in the aerial drone photos: The “Bunkhouse” is an identically designed home right next to The Sea Duck Cottage where only the owners (who act as on site management during most of the rental season) quietly reside in the summer months.
However, the entire property—both homes—are always available for your party if you desire.
Please note that the owners will vacate the property and rent both homes for very large groups at any time—but again, only to the same party, since you will never have to “share” the property with other people whom you do not know.
All of our guests agree: you have to see this place to believe it, and that the photos do not do it justice—maybe that is why 80% of our guests are repeat clients—some having booked annually back as far as five years!
Come enjoy a piece of beautiful Downeast Maine! It is truly an unforgettable experience, and there are few places in the USA which resemble it in any way. It’s a truly unique experience.
