Newly renovated and charming 1850 farmhouse and adjacent original barn overlooking the Benjamin River.; four miles from the Brooklin Inn, the Brooklin General store, and library.
Benjamin River is a small protected harbor full of wooden sailing craft. There is a public launching raft across the harbor.
The waterfront has a set of shore steps and can be reached by walking through the pasture at the back of the house until you reach an access road which will lead you there, about 1/4 mile walk. The “beach” is gravel, a few rocks by shore.
At high tide a kayak can be brought to bottom of steps, otherwise it would be carried out to the tide line.
The farm is located on four acres and it abuts 30 acres of lovely scenic conservation rock strewn fields and forest land. There is pleasant walking in the mowed fields and a long gravel road leading to the Benjamin River Boatyard. The stone patio by the kitchen overlooks the fields, afternoon sun, and the adjacent fieldstone firepit. The property is within close range of two public launching ramps : Benjamin River Sedgwick ramp; and Naskeag Point, Brooklin.
The house welcome manual details local ocean charts and geodetic survey land maps.
The owner can make available day charters on a 36’ traditional gaff rigged sailing ketch and/or a 21’ open traditional motor launch for viewing the Eggemoggin Reach waters and local island exploration. (CDC guidelines permitting)
Amenities and activities farther afield for exploring, walking, hiking, boating and dining include: Naskeag Point, The Wooden Boat School, Stonington and Deer Isle, Blue Hill, Cape Rosier and Mount Desert. Taxi services are available for access to the Bangor and Trenton airports.
The house features two working fireplaces.
Of the three bedrooms, two are master suites. The first floor master bedroom conveniently suits a multigenerational family vacation.
The kitchen is large and features top grade professional gourmet appliances.
The house has a number of unusual architectural details and the interior features New England style antiques, curiosities and various works of art.
